5th may opencoffee leeds
A coffee + cakes morning meetup bringing together designers, developers, entrepreneurs, media professionals and academics.

5th may digital britain unconference
One of a series of spontaneously self organising Digital Britain Unconferences to be held around the UK. The aim of the unconferences is to develop a coherent response from the digitally literate user community to the draft Digital Britain report.

12th may innovation north 2009 showcase
Leeds Met's undergraduate expo, showcasing the work of this year's graduating class in music technology, sound, games design, animation, special effects, creative media and computing.

14th may BASE show & tell at evolution 2009
BASE are a group of artists and researchers working at the intersection of art and technology. Taking place at the Leeds Met Gallery from 6pm, "Show T Tell" events are informal, self-organised seminars designed to share knowledge and explore innovation. Tom Betts will be talking about gameplay as performance, Alison Mealey and Anneke Pettican about Digital Doubles, and Andrew Wilson about a cardboard games workshop. Alongside the seminar, BASE Show and Tell will feature a demo of Tom's Human Sequencer. Guests include Iman Moradi on the glitch aesthetics of carpets and Christopher Ellison's demo of his lego 'turntable' Contact for more information.

19th may hackspace
Hackspace is an alternative term for Hackerspaces, a physical place where anybody with an interest in technology can meet up, socialize and collaborate on project within a vast range of technologies and languages.

20th may geekup
An evening social of internet industry workers, including a trio of brief 20:20 talks - Clare Lindley on Creating iPhone apps with PhoneGap, Phil Helliwell on What your BIG-IP can do for you & Jonathan "Squigfried" Powell on Hack Spaces, and why having one in Leeds will be awesome.

27th may girl geek dinner
An evening buffet accompanied by keynote speakers representing the best femalte talents in the technology sector. Seedcamp CEO, Reshma Sohoni, and Democracy PR's founder, Jennifer O'Grady will be one of the featured speakers, with around 70 guests drawn from the city's most talented and respected female professionals in creative and digital.

28th may future of web apps tour
Ryan Carson's renowned conference comes to Leeds for the first time, at the city's newly opened Rose Bowl. The theme is Cloud Computing - with speakers from Microsoft, Amazon and Salesforce.

29th may physical computing 101 an innovative consultancy that's bringing together the physical and digital worlds through creative technologies will be leading a day long Beginner's Guide to Arduino, to help novices and experts alike learn how to build small electronic widgets!

30-31st may cupcake camp
A weekend of cake--related debauchery - bringing together the ancient elemental power of sugar, cream & flour in an orgy of cakey goodness! Eight master bakers will battle to the death - to win your confection affection - only one will prevail, while others will be sacrified on a moist, spongy altar...dripping with jam.

30-31st may barcamp leeds {2009}
BarCamp Leeds is the city's third 'unconference', a event where the folks that attend create the programme of sessions themselves. BarCamps are open, participatory, democratic, 'workshop' events; the organisers and sponsors simply provide wireless broadband, a venue, beverages and food! The attendees provide the content - and the buzz.

3rd june exposure leeds
The city's photographic community is supporting LSx by running 60-90 minute workshops photography workshops with a technological bias - some topics might include Flickr, Photoshop, HDR, PhotoSynth and Lightroom.

1-3rd may live at leeds
Now in its third year after a successful beginning in 2007, this year's event features 100s of bands and spans the length and breadth of Leeds across a large number of live music venues. On Sunday, organisers will be hosting an informal Q&A seminar with a panel of industry professionals taking your questions, include band managers, agents, the PRS, and an A&R representative from Sony BMG.

7th may yorkshire digital awards 2009
The digital community in Yorkshire contributes £1.2bn to the economy and, as the industry has grown, so has the awards dinner, reflecting the maturity and status of this exciting sector.
